10 Die In Kogi Boat Mishap

No fewer than 10 people have reportedly lost their lives in a boat mishap which occurred in Ebe village, Lokoja local government area of kogi State on today, August 27.

The accident was said to have occurred due to a turbulence caused by a security patrol team who were after some oil bunkerers.

According to a source who spoke to the nation, the patrol team was pursuing another boat conveying drums of crude oil into River Gurara.


The 50-capacity boat which was ferrying passengers from Ebe capsized along the River Gurara from the turbulence caused by the hot chase.

As at the time of filing this report, four bodies have been recovered from the river.

There has been several boat mishaps in recent times in several parts of Nigeria.

Just recently, a boat exploded at Capital Oil Jetty at Victoria Island and one person was confirmed dead while several other passengers sustained injuries.

About a month back, at least four women drowned in a river as a result of a boat mishap that happened in Afikpo North Local Govern­ment Area of Ebonyi State.
