Popular comedian, Ayo Makun, a.k.a. AY is
one of Nigeria’s A-list comedians. The talented comic has carved a
niche for himself in the industry with his creativity, which has also
sold his brand beyond the coast.
The multiple-award winning comedian
married Mabel in 2008 and presented her with an Acura ZDX as an
anniversary/Christmas gift in 2012.
Although this open show of affection to
his wife on twitter sparked criticisms from his fans, Mabel is sure
enjoying the luxurious ride, not minding whose ox was gored.
The 2012 Acura ZDX is a midsize crossover
SUV, specially designed for those in need of a stylish and personal
coupe-style utility vehicle. The big difference is that the floor is a
bit higher off the ground than an average car’s, giving the ZDX more of
an SUV-like feel.
Reviewers say the ZDX has a comfortable ride, feels light when it is cruising, corners with agility and is fun to drive.
Performance
The vehicle is powered by a 3.7-litre V6
engine that produces 300 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque,
delivering plenty of power. Its fuel economy is estimated at 16 miles
per gallon in the city, 23mpg on the highway and 19mpg in combined
driving. The ZDX has the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system found in
other Acura cars, capable of transferring different levels of power to
the wheels, to maximise traction and grip through turns and in rough
weather.
In recent Edmunds testing, the ZDX
accelerated from zero to 60 miles per hour in 7.3 seconds and it came to
a stop from 60 mph in 130 feet, which is longer than average for cars
in this class.
Features
The ZDX seats five persons comfortably.
Its features include automatic xenon headlights, fog lights, heated
mirrors, 19-inch wheels, a back-up camera with a rear-view mirror
display, voice-controlled navigation with an 8-inch display.
Also present are dual-zone automatic
climate control, a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, power
heated and adjustable front seats with memory, leather upholstery and
child safety locks. Standard safety features also include antilock disc
brakes, airbags and stability and traction control. One of its optional
equipment is a monitoring and a collision mitigation braking system
paired to the adaptive cruise control, which detects the likelihood of a
front-end collision and alerts the driver with visual and audible
warnings. If the driver takes no action, the system engages the brakes
and tightens the driver’s seatbelt. If the system deems a collision
inevitable, it increases braking force and tightens both front
seatbelts. The ZDX had good scores in all government crash tests.
Seating
Front seat passengers enjoy more comfort
than those at the rear because the sloping roof line reduces headroom.
Legroom is also notably lacking, worsened by seat cushions mounted
uncomfortably close to the floor.
The useful cargo space is also short,
compared to other midsize luxury SUVs, but folding the second row down
more than doubles that space.
The good: Luxurious interior with rich leather surfaces, high-tech features and powerful V6 engine.
The bad: Reviewers
complained of cramped backseat and cargo space, and that the sloping
rear roof line greatly reduces visibility, and makes getting in and out
of the rear seats difficult.
